SSRI Releases

SSRI has released ten albums since 2002. That’s a little less than two releases per year. But, we like to think that we make up in quality what we lack in quantity. :)

Two of those ten albums are not currently distributed, “The Santa Fe Sessions” and “Winter Rose”. But, both are still available from our Web Store and we are planning to re-issue them in our DigiPak format sometime next year.

Instrumental Storytelling

OL- The Record 7.10.08

Recordnet.com: Instrumental storytelling drives the music of Ottmar Liebert
“I’m not really looking for continuity,” Liebert said of Luna Negra. “I enjoy the different personnel shifts and the music they bring. It keeps me insistent (((I think I said interested, but we talked via mobile))) because each time (there are new members) the music has to be adjusted and played differently. The fans get a new interpretation of it every time.”

Liebert’s sound has long given record store owners (or iTunes programmers) fits over where to stock his music. A fusion of world beat, flamenco, jazz, new age and classical, it stubbornly refuses to settle into just one suitable category.

You can read the rest here. Thanks for the interview and the cover!

Wednesday in Santa Fe

Got up early. Had to drive to Albuquerque and back – but that’s a story for another day.

Brief rehearsal 1200-1400 before packing up everything. Band sounded very good. We will play most of the songs from the new album.

After the gear left, I started packing.

It rained a few drops while the sun shone brightly. My mother called that “Im Himmel ist Jahrmarkt”. Himmel can mean Sky or Heaven in German, but in this case the meaning is there is a fair in heaven – meaning the angels are drunk and flipped the switches for rain and sunshine at the same time…

Am still packing.

The Scent of Light is in the digital distribution pipeline. Expect it on iTunes and amazon and all the other sites next week, or the week after that. You can always buy it and download it from us instead.

Official Release (NOT)

Today (((I guess I missed the memo – the official official release date for the CD in stores – other than ours – is next Tuesday, June 24th… there, you should not trust anything you read in these pages…))) is the official release date for “The Scent of Light”. Amazon.com must have sold out quickly this morning as they are showing a Temporarily out of stock sign (((well, duh, the release is next week…))).

Of course you can also buy the download from our ListeningLounge and the CD from our online store. (((at least that much is true… until next Tuesday our web store will be the only place you can order/buy/download/obtain a copy of my best album)))
