Eyes Wide Shut

I didn’t know that we all play with our eyes closed… and how could I!?!? These images are from the performance in Orlando last month.

Playing with one’s eyes closed makes an ugly place more welcoming and a beautiful place less distracting. :-)

Water in Orlando

IMG 8377
I have encountered these water fountains in most airports and made use of them on every journey. They nearly always show a red light because the filter needs to be changed. It’s a good indication that people can use their own water bottles and forego plastic, when given the choice. I have watched the counter in some airports go from a few thousand to many hundreds of thousands. Like McDonalds, who began counting each hamburger sold until they reached Billions and Billions Sold!… at some point counting becomes as useless as counting the stars while lying on one’s back.

I had never seen one of these in a venue before. What a brilliant idea! I wish every venue would have one of these.

Seen at The Plaza Live.

Snoopy in Daytona

IMG 8369
Arrived at the motel around midnight. What a dump. Spring break and biker place, I imagine. Lots of stuff broken and carelessly mended. Obvious now why there were no interior photos available. Gotta take the ugly with the beautiful. We have stayed in an Ottoman palace and grand hotels and we have stayed in some awful places as, I imagine, every musician has. It’s part of the life. This place was run down but not grimy.

The next morning we met in the parking lot, each of us wanting to get away early, for once. And then Jon coined a new phrase. One of us had slept in their clothes, on top of their bed, and Jon said you did the Snoopy…because Snoopy never sleeps in his doghouse, he always lies on top of the roof. Yes, came the reply at once, I snoopied. It’s part of the vocabulary now. When you snoopy, you lie on top of the covers, preferably in your clothes. You are welcome. Take it and make use of it.

Photo Story

Look at this. The traffic camera is making a fascist salut and there is a sign that warns “Dead End”. A story in one photo. A warning.
