Having more time in Orlando, and the gremlins dealt with, we set up a little differently, with me stage-right instead of in the middle. It makes it easier for me to have eye-contact with Michael. (((Because we flew to Florida, Michael is playing drumkits provided by the promoters. Of course he brought his own cymbals with him.)))
Our show in Orlando was sold out and we were determined to do better than in Miami. And we did! Much better, we felt. The three brand-new pieces were also very well received.

From today, 1 January 2010, the new Irish blasphemy law becomes operational, and we begin our campaign to have it repealed. Blasphemy is now a crime punishable by a €25,000 fine. The new law defines blasphemy as publishing or uttering matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby intentionally causing outrage among a substantial number of adherents of that religion, with some defences permitted.
Contrast that with something I read recently, an argument for quitting to be offended:
…”offended” is like Kleenex — its brand has been diluted to the point that it’s lost its power. It devalues actual, justified rage.
Nevertheless, we humans love to draw lines in the sand. According to the story, the founder of Rome drew such a line in the sand, and when his brother mockingly stepped over the line, he killed him. And we still kill each other over things as immaterial as that line in the sand.

It’s Friday, we are in Naples and it is almost 70ºF. The sun is shining and the rays feel good on my face. Ah, and the venue has shore-power! Forecast for tomorrow, Saturday: about 45ºF and rain… sigh.
I do agree about Kleenex. They’ve gone too far. And as for that blasphemy law, God forbid (or is that blashemy to say) Laws enacted that cannot and should not be enforced are so much worse than worthless. It gets a little scary.
