I think the larger the venue the more the inherent problems of using a microphone come to the fore and the better a pick-up sounds by comparison.
I imagine if one plays in large venues (10,000-20,000) and especially at open air concerts, or in a festival situation where there is usually not a lot of time devoted to set up – one of the reasons I play very, very few festivals – that the Frameworks guitar or any guitar using a good pickup would shine. But it would be less enjoyable for me, as I would not enjoy the sound very much.
