Wednesday Rehearsal

Got up at 5:30. After a cup of coffee I scrambled up the ladder to the roof and set up the camera on a tripod to shoot the setting of the moon and the morning light. Then I went back inside as it was freezing cold and sat zazen for 40 minutes, which was delicious. I usually sit in the evening, and it was nice to sit while the light was slowly turned up outside.

Unfortunately the camera’s battery died after only 43 captures, as you can see in the earlier post.

In the kitchen I opened my laptop and found this poem in a message from a friend :

Unfettered at last, a traveling monk,
I pass the old Zen barrier.
Mine is a traceless stream-and-cloud life,
Of these mountains, which shall be my home?

– Manan (1591-1654)

Thank you IM.

Started working with Michael today. Met at Jon’s studio for a rehearsal in the afternoon to get a head start on rehearsing for the tour at the end of March. Haven’t played with a drumkit since 2001, but it felt really nice. Here is a first run through of La Luna. It has a nice feel! I have a few changes I want to make and once Stevo and Rusty add their parts to that… ah!!

You can download a 320kbps version HERE.
That was recorded with just three mics, one on the guitars and two on the drum kit.

I spent the evening with friends in Tesuque.
