Tried to use Reason 4 on my laptop, but it asked for the software DVD to be inserted as a security measurement. Could not find the Reason 4 DVD – which I bought when it was released (((January 2008?))) and had already used – because I am not the most organized person. Contacted help at Reason and they informed me that I would need to purchase a new Reason DVD replacement “at a nominal charge” in order to use the software – even though the software is already registered in my name…

I took a break and thought about that for a couple of months.

Then today I go to their website and look for the replacement DVD. Holy crap, they charge $33 for a damn replacement DVD. My initial reaction was that I wanted to say go to hell, and never use Reason again, but then I figured I already paid for the software and makes more sense to obtain the replacement DVD than to throw away the initial investment. (((I later switched to the slow mailing option to save some money)))…

$33 for a relacement DVD that costs maybe $2 or 3 to make is a colossal rip-off. Imagine the music-biz would do something like that: sorry you can’t play that mp3 until you insert the original CD it was ripped from…
