I know this term “Tree Hugger” originated in the 1970s with Gandhi, and since that time has become a pejorative, but I have to say, I wear the title myself with a great deal of satisfaction and glee.
In my parents day, some 20 years before Gandhi, et. al., became known as “tree huggers” for … literally hugging trees, people like my parents were known as “conservationists.”
I even remember the ecological flag, which … in the 1970s used to hang on our house …
