Even though I have spoken, and read, mostly English for forty years, I seem to do better guessing a German Wordle clone than the original English Wordle. Weird!

Possible reasons:

  • there are less five letter words in German
  • German Wordle is meant to be easier to keep people coming back to see advertisements
  • it is easier to retain words learned when one is young

  • Wednesday:
Another possibility is that luck is involved. Today I did both English and German Wordle in 3 tries. Perhaps that means I should buy a Powerball ticket for tonight.

Easier when young but also maybe the first words you ever learn, starting with a completely blank slate, get a firmer grip on your mind than words you learn after your mind already has a bunch of words.
