These two images were scanned from a rediscovered contact sheet, photogaphed by Reisig & Taylor in 1997. Images from this session were used for the covers of Leaning into the Night and christmas + santa fe. Gabrielle Raumberger, whose company EPOS designed several of my albums for Epic Records in the Nineties, came to one of our shows in California in February and brought me a bag of great old stuff, like these contact sheets she had discovered in her office. February and touring and making music with others seems like so so long ago…
Wow hair! You handsome devil! But I like the shaved head…it is significant.
I meant to add that in these photos you have a sad, lonely look that fits your saying “touring and making music with others seems like so so long ago…” My heart is breaking. I saw you and Jon at the Iridium in New York last year; I was at Sedona and San Antonio last fall (as you know). I was looking forward to seeing you in Seattle this March. I loved the travel connected with going to your concerts – you always choose wonderful places. Needless to say, live streaming cannot take the place of the warmth and sound of in-person performances…the 3 dimensions, the fragrances, the vibrations, and the other folks cheering for you.
Beautiful photos. I never forget the first time I saw your photos, and I thought, what a beautiful man, I was just a teenager dreaming about you, and I don’t want to seem like a crazy fan, but it’s so nice to see you again and listen to your songs. I hope that soon everything will return to normal, and although I don’t know if I can go to a live show, I think that the magic of a live show is incomparable, I don’t know if that would be possible, but I’m sure it would be unforgettable
