– “Wherever you go there you are” was uttered by Jeff Goldblum in the 1984 movie Buckaroo Banzai. A whole decade later Kabat-Zinn used that quote for his book. I hope he gave credit to Buckaroo!
– What delights me about the Capote quote is that it came from an author who isn’t known for spiritual writing. It’s from a novel, not a book about the Tao
– The quote sounds like a Zen saying because Zen is all about this: no separation, all connected. And we do run into ourselves constantly. A hammer thinks everything is a nail, an angry person will encounter anger everywhere etc…
Ottmar, I feel so strange after watching The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai! Good bit: During end credits the entire cast high-tail it to music in what looked like the dry concrete Los Angeles River! FYI, Peter Weller said the wherever you go line, but I enjoyed seeing Jeff Goldblum in furry chaps. :-) Several Google sources say the “wherever you go” line stems from AA – 1936.
“You make me feel that I’m running into myself.” That’s a quote by me to you!
How about “WHEREVER YOU GO THERE YOU ARE” – Jon Kabat-Zinn.
“Stop leaving and you will arrive. Stop searching and you will see. Stop running away and you will be found.” — Lao Tzu

I stand corrected. Yes, it was Paul Weller, but Goldblum stole the show.
I agree whole-heartedly! Goldblum rules!
