Kevin Kelly — The Technium
When copies are super abundant, they become worthless.
When copies are super abundant, stuff which can’t be copied becomes scarce and valuable.
When copies are free, you need to sell things which can not be copied.

Interesting….Now which do people care about more? Do I run to the store because I need it now, because I finally found it, or because it is “just what I wanted”. There has to be a tipping point there. The tipping point for downloading music is free and immediate. I don’t think most people care it is “just what they wanted” or “because they finally found it”. There must be something there to replace “free” and it must be something substantial. Over course there will always be “free” people, but like the author said, people still pay to go to the movies.
