Charles Lloyd

The Nobel Committee has requested Charles Lloyd and SANGAM, with Zakir Hussain and Eric Harland to perform during the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo on December 10th.

Charles Lloyd, tenor, alto sax, bass, alto flute taragato, piano
Zakir Hussain, tabla, voice, percussion
Eric Harland, drums, percussion, piano

They could not have picked a finer man or musician. Met Charles in Tokyo in the Summer of 1991, or was it Paris in Spring, when both of us were walking the runway for Yohji Yamamoto.

Couldn’t find a link, but this came in an email from his camp. Check out the NPR story on Sangam. Note the interesting Rumi reference during that radio interview…

December 10th will be a fine day. My father will turn 92 and Charles will do his alchemy in Oslo!
