plagiarism in indian film music

He also notes marginal, musical lifts in the remix of Khakee’s ‘Aisa jadoo’…the guitar in particular is close to his ‘2 the night’. But the influences are marginal and almost incidental, so I’m not too keen on even a trivia mention.

That’s neither marginal nor incidental, it’s a direct sample from “2 the Night”. The only thing that’s not entriely clear to me is whether Nouveau Flamenco’s “2 the Night” was sampled, or the 1997 cover-version of “2 the Night” by the Italian group La Fortezza. I am leaning toward the latter.

Message to Bollywood:
Please note that all my SSRI releases – see this link – use a Creative Commons license, which allows sampling. Just select a song, pay the buck, download and sample away. As stated in the CC license, “You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).” In fact all music in the ListeningLounge is covered by that same CC license.
