Michael Zimmerman’s Zen Buddhist name is Mugaku, which in Japanese means “no learning.” At first blush that’s an odd name for a man as learned as the former Utah Supreme Court chief justice, especially since he’s spent the past seven years doing what Zen Buddhists call “koan study.”
