Yet now come plans for the tallest skyscraper in the United States, a condominium and hotel building designed by Santiago Calatrava for Chicago’s lakefront. At 2,000 feet, or 610 meters, the building, the Fordham Spire, would beat out the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower planned for ground zero in New York.
Calatrava for Chicago. That’ll be a sight! Very cool.
Yes! Let’s house the entire city of Chicago in one building so terrorists can take out an entire city with one building. Yes, very smart.
And can they at least let the damn freedom tower be built first before overshadowing it. Oy!

Yeah, and why don’t you lock yourself in your house and not come out again, because all sorts of nasty stuff can happen to you out there. Come to think of it, maybe stay in bed?
Although I see your point Eno, I have to agree with Ottmar because terrorists are gonna do what they’re gonna do regardless of what buildings we build because they’re a-holes, and killing innocent people is their agenda regardless of the structure they’re targeting.
However, I personally wouldn’t want to live in that building for several reasons. First of all, I hate heights. I’m not afraid of much, in fact I can’t think of anything else I’m afraid of. But heights really make me uncomfortable. Second, I hate apartments of any kind because I don’t like my neighbors to be so close to me. And third, I like having a lot of animals, which one can’t have if they live in a condo or an apartment. I think I’ll just stick with my small house that sits on the ground away from my neighbors. :-)
