La Carafe is a very old and very cool neighborhood bar in Houston, at 813 Congress Street. It’s another side of Houston. Completely different from the brutal architecture near the Verizon Center.
Jon and I were introduced to this bar in 1991, I believe, when we were performing at Rockefellers and when La Carafe still had an old vinyl records juke box. It is CDs now, but what a nice collection! While I was there I heard Marvin Gaye and Patsy Kline among others. I posted more photos of the bar on Flickr – just click on the above photo and browse.
