Slow Like Incense Smoke

Here is the link to the work in progress.

Yesterday afternoon, in the studio, I worked on “Bare Wood 2”. Three songs from “Fete”, four songs from “vision 2020”, and four brand new pieces, all fashioned only from the bare wood: flamenco guitar, acoustic upright bass, cajon and djembe. I especially love how the new pieces are turning out, but all of the album sounds good to me.

I love the freedom of going from a big sounding record like “Fete” or “vision 2020 (full version)” to something like “Bare Wood 2”. And next to “slow 2” or “one guitar two” or something altogether different, sprouting from the piece that is the music for the incense video.

Now for something more serious. I think the CDC is making a huge mistake by stopping vaccinations with the Johnson & Johnson product. Did you know that a “side effect” of the birthcontrol pill is the risk of one in a thousand of blood-clotting? The J&J vaccine appears to have a risk of one in a million. That’s a thousand times less! The risk of not reaching herd immunity and more people dying from Covid is a lot higher than one in a million.

Agree. 6 cases of clots in 7 million folks vaccinated with J&J. FDA and CDC are taking a close look at the cases, but they will likely reinstate it within a week or so. I just heard Fauci say this pause reinforces reason people should have no fear of getting vaccinated. It demonstrates diligent safety precautions.

I love the intro and the way the smoke blends. By 2:22, enjoyed like a good mystery the way in which both sound and smoke continued to actively engage the attention.

Inspired by the wonderful sound, the fine direction of the smoke and light.

I really like how the smoke looks with the music – very peaceful.

I agree that stopping the J & J is not the best option. Any medication has some side effects but six people out of seven million is a very small number. And these women could have had other conditions that made them more susceptible to clots. Herd immunity is the key to getting life back to normal.

I’ve been listening to BARE WOOD all the time lately, especially After your video for the Dallas Museum. SO BEAUTIFUL! All the songs.

I Look forward to BARE WOOD 2 – four new pieces! BIG BIG SMILE!

I agree with you Ottmar. The CDC made a bad move.

The probability of a blood clot due to J&J vaccine is 1ppm

The probability of getting hit by lightning is 1.33333 in 1000000 or 1.3ppm

The probability of a blood clot due to ibuprofen is higher still: “Six studies with 21 401 VTE events were identified and included in the data analysis. The pooled risk ratio of VTE in NSAID users was 1.80 (95% CI 1.28, 2.52).” source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25252703/

Not sure what they are thinking, but its an extremely bad move nonetheless.

It seems there may be other unpublicized problems at J&J and the company used the blood clot scare as a distracting excuse.
