Knuth versus Email
I have been a happy man ever since January 1, 1990, when I no longer had an email address. I’d used email since about 1975, and it seems to me that 15 years of email is plenty for one lifetime.

`I don’t even have an e-mail address. I have reached an age where my main purpose is not to receive messages.’ — Umberto Eco, quoted in the New Yorker

Thank you, dear Ottmar, for being a soothing presence during Scrabble games over the years with my mother, father, and brother- probably the only times I can recall sitting at a table with my parents and not feeling anxious. Hearing the tracks from Barcelona Nights evokes a sense of happy nostalgia for which I am most grateful. Hope you are most well. TP, Montreal.
