Diary entry by Jean Cocteau on December 25, 1952:

Journalist: What would you like to see hanging on your Christmas tree?
J.C.: Journalists
From the book Assassin’s Cloak, an anthology of the world’s greatest diarists, which I finished last night. Great read.
I keep trying to tell myself I don’t need that, but I know eventually I will give up and get it. I got what I thought were diaries of famous people, and when I got it, the author must have felt he had to change it just a little and used the first person point of view. “Johnson here states that….” awful, and he just picked bits and pieces out of context. I just threw it away as a waste. We didn’t have recycling yet then..
