The WELL – Online community is not an oxymoron here: The WELL’s one of the longest running and most original gathering places ever.
Membership is not for everyone: partly because we are non-anonymous here. This means that as a member, you know the names of the people you’re talking with and they know you, leading to real relationships.

The Well has been around since 1985 and I think they are/were onto something: how much of the web-insanity can easily be blamed on anonymity.
