Former streaming service subscribers on why they have ditched mod cons for MP3s, CDs and other DIY music formats

Our internet was out for several days this week and we watched DVDs. It seemed as if it took less time to pick a movie from a limited DVD selection than it took when looking through the endless streaming offers.

The seemingly infinite array of streaming channels seems to be choking the life out of all those channels. And I note new channels coming in. We have found plenty of Entertainment on YouTube Premium, PBS Passport, Hulu, & our own DVDs. Very low cost! Sometimes we put on a favorite movie or TV series we really like rather than performing the painful search for new things. We love detective and courtroom dramas and often rewatch our SHERLOCK HOLMES DVDs starring Jeremy Brett. I also recommend the old 1950-1965 TV show WHAT’S MY LINE. A charming panel of 4 witty well-known people try to guess what the contestant döes for a living by asking YES or NO questions. They have one or two celebrity contestants every show. Very entertaining! One contestant was Seiji Ozawa before he was famous, looking so very young. He was not even the celebrity contestant. What a hoot!

When my SmartTV stopped including “VHS” in Mode choices, I got rid of all my VHS recordings. I missed them for a few minutes and then sighed with Relief. I did keep my personal VHS’s – my voice recital at NASA, and my mother’s Memorial service. I must get those translated to DVD.

Plus, now I play my Addictive video game while watching TV, as if among the new breed of TV watchers!
