I am sad to let you know that Dad passed away this morning at around five o’clock. I unfortunately missed him just by a few hours. They had checked on him around midnight and he was ok and in no pain, by the next round in the morning he had passed away in his sleep.

With dad in 1991?

Winking – that photo always makes me smile.

His eyes were so blue.
One of my favorite pics of dad is in the “Opium”-CD booklet, but I can’t find that on my computer.

So sorry to hear of your loss.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t there for my father or brother when they passed away.
    Time and travel defeated me.
My brothers’ passing was incredibley difficult, the hardest period of my life so far.
I think that they felt the love I had for them while they were alive and I try to take comfort in this.
    Take Care

If my memory serves me about what you’ve written regarding your dad, you truly enjoyed him while he was here. May the memories made and the experiences shared with him cause you to smile and your spirits to be lifted.
    Peace

i am saddened to hear of your loss of your father – i hope you find peace and joy in your memories of him. The man I work for, sadly, just passed away and this was read at his memorial:

    Death is nothing at all.
    It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
    Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
    There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Very sorry to learn of your father’s passing. As I learned when my Mom passed back in February, it seems that no amount of mental preparation is anywhere near sufficient. Weeks down the road, I still find myself almost picking up the phone to share some exciting bit of news or interesting tidbit. I hope your many fond memories are a great comfort during this trying time.
