Rose – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Twentieth-century rose breeders generally emphasized size and color, producing large, attractive blooms with little or no scent. Many wild and “old-fashioned” roses, by contrast, have a strong sweet scent.

Reminds me of strawberries and tomatoes which have become huge and tasteless… a rose without scent is a very sad flower. My first response to a rose is to try to smell it and I am always disappointed when it is scent-less.

It’s true. Nowadays, food is practically tasteless, although huge and pretty. All the soil has been sapped of life due to farming of the same crops over and over. City markets supplied by local farmers have some good fruit.
