Saturday Evening

Came back from Albuquerque after a wonderful dinner at Rahim’s house and a bit of music-making. Decided I could eat arabic food every day and I want to see Damascus at some point after hearing desriptions. Gave Rahim (check out his music in our ListeningLounge) a “I am not a terrorist” t-shirt, which he loved and wants to wear at a performance tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the beginning of the year 4705, the year of the pig.

Chinese New Year
The Chinese year 4705 begins on Feb. 18, 2007. Chinese months are reckoned by the lunar calendar, with each month beginning on the darkest day. New Year festivities traditionally start on the first day of the month and continue until the fifteenth, when the moon is brightest. In China, people may take weeks of holiday from work to prepare for and celebrate the New Year.

Don’t forget to visit Beirut! It is one of the most amazing places. The spirit of the people and the food will enchant anyone with an open mind.

… and Aleppo as well. Not to forget Beirut. I was talking with a friend from France about going to Libanon about a year ago. Now we’ve postponed it for – some years?
