    Yep, that’s pretty f’n cool! I remember growing up in the 70’s reading Popular Science magazine… we were supposed to have cars getting over 100 MPG by the 1990’s… solar powered houses… etc.

    Of course, all of that is possible… and then there’s the illusion of “convenience”.

    Victor, that stuff is the best! My department used to have a book for our pleasure written in the 1960s about the year 2000. It’s fun to see what was expected of us (and how much those expectations overshot–2001: A Space Odyssey, anyone?), although politically it was actually not terribly far off…
