Kevin Kelly — Street Use
This site features the ways in which people modify and re-create technology. Herein a collection of personal modifications, folk innovations, street customization, ad hoc alterations, wear-patterns, home-made versions and indigenous ingenuity. In short — stuff as it is actually used, and not how its creators planned on it being used. As William Gibson said, “The street finds its own uses for things.”

Excellent.

Cool stuff! I particularly like the idea of baking cookies on your dashboard… not only do you have a snack for the ride home but imagine how good the car smells (compared to one of those little “stink pads” hanging from the rearview mirror)!

and I think people would have a good start on innovating if parents don’t show kids the only way to play with a toy and instead encourage them to use things in novel ways.
