Have you ever been in a situation where you wished your cell phone would ring? Maybe you wanted to look extra important or popular on that hot date. Or maybe you just needed an excuse to escape from an unpleasant meeting.

With “The Popularity Dialer”, you can plan ahead. Via a web interface, you can choose to have your phone called at a particular time (or several times). At the elected time, your phone will be dialed and you will hear a prerecorded message that’s one half of a conversation. Thus, you will be prompted to have a fake conversation and will easily fool those around you.

Ah, but one would have to plan ahead… I noticed that Virgin Australia offers a service whereby one can dial a number from one’s mobile which automatically triggers a call within x minutes…

I agree. And if importance is the basis of your new relationship – well, there will always be somebody more important… I can understand one phone call, but not two. And if that phone call extends beyond “I’ll call you back later” then that person doesn’t want to be here now.

Well, of course–technology can’t yet make people any less nervous or boring on dates. This is the next best thing ;)

That’s actually kind of tragic. Well, not *kind of*. Just tragic.

Why would you need this service? My phones have always had an alarm feature that lets you set any ringtone and multipe alarm times. I would imagine most phones have that. Hmmm, maybe I should try that on my wife to keep her on her toes. . . nah!
