On your Toes

The Reversible Destiny Lofts were designed specifically to keep residents uncomfortable, always on their toes. Uneven surfaces, details that will make you trip and fall, stimulating colors all work together to produce an effect opposite the calm and tranquil setting we presume the elderly seek in a home.

I think this is a very interesting idea. When I remodelled my home 6 years ago, I was asked whether I would like to remote-control all of the lights in the house. I decided that I prefer to walk around switching lights on and off. Walking up and down stairs is a good thing and I like this idea of setting up little challenges for our bodies.

THIS LINK shows some images and THIS LINK has a little blurb about the project.

You could also add stickers to the stairs, as the Dutch Droog Designers suggested HERE, if you need the added motivation.

I love that concept. It could be used in all sorts of ways. Living in perfection leaves nothing to do but exist and be taken care of. How obvious. Nice to have a few screws left to tighten and controls left that you must do. I always think its sad to read writeups from retirement homes that say he/she used to like to….and they’re often things they still could and should be doing. Bright colors. Yeah!!
